Get Ready To Dip!
There's a new and better way to fight card fraud, so get ready to dip! The Community Bank's cards are issued with EMV chip technology to help protect your information. These EMV cards offer an enhanced security against counterfeiting or cloning. To make purchases, you "dip" your card into a slot and briefly hold it there until verified.
EMV secures the payment transaction with enhanced functionality in three areas:
- Card authentication, protecting again counterfeit cards.
- Cardholder verification, authenticating the cardholder and protecting against lost and stolen cards.
- Transaction authorization, using issuer-defined rules to authorize transactions.
Why are EMV cards more secure than traditional cards?
It is the small, metallic square you will see on new cards. That is a computer chip and it is what sets apart the new generation of cards. The magnetic stripes on traditional cards contain unchanging data. Whoever accesses that data gains the sensitive card and cardholder information necessary to make purchases. It is important to know EMV chip technology does not provide additional fraud protection for online purchases.
Feel More Secure!
At The Community Bank, we’ve got your back by giving you an added layer of protection to make your banking experience more secure! Our 3D Secure feature brings you Credit Cards with enhanced safety when your card isn’t present at checkout (online and over the phone shopping) that will help prevent fraud with fast, secure authentication.
How It Works
- When you make an online or over the phone purchase at a participating 3D Secure merchant, you will be prompted to provide your 16 digit Community Bank Credit Card number, card expiration date and security code on the back of the card.
- If VISA rates your purchase as a high risk transaction, less than 5% of all transactions will be rated as high risk, a One-Time Passcode (OTP) will be sent to your mobile phone number or email address as maintained in our records.
- Provide the One-Time Passcode (OTP) to complete your online or over the phone purchase.
What is 3D Secure?
The Community Bank offers 3D Secure as a free service that adds an additional layer of protection for online and over the phone shopping.
Do I really need to register for 3D Secure?
No enrollment is required. All Community Bank Credit Cards are provided this extra layer of protection automatically. Please ensure your mobile phone number and email address are up to date with The Community Bank. To verify your account information, you may simply contact us at 740-454-1600, stop in to your local Banking Office, or login to your Online Banking with Bill Pay account or your eZCard account to view your personal information.
How does 3D Secure protect me?
3D Secure provides an added layer of protection by prompting you for a One-Time Passcode when you make an online or over the phone purchase and the transaction has been identified by VISA as high risk. This extra layer of security helps protect against fraudulent transactions by verifying that the customer making the purchase is the rightful owner of the Community Bank Credit Card.
Are there any charges for 3D Secure service?
No, The Community Bank provides this service absolutely free to you!
Which type of Community Bank Credit Cards does the 3D Secure feature apply?
3D Secure is provided on all Community Bank Credit Cards.
Do all online and over the phone transactions require me to provide a One-Time Passcode?
No, the One-Time Passcode is only required for merchants that support the 3D Secure authentication protocol and for purchases VISA has identified as a high risk transaction. VISA estimates less than 5% of all transactions will receive a One-Time Passcode.
Where will The Community Bank send the One-Time Passcode?
The Community Bank will send the One-Time Passcode to the cardholders’ mobile phone number and/or email address as maintained in our records. Please ensure your mobile phone number and email address are up to date with The Community Bank. To verify your account information, you may simply contact us at 740-454-1600, stop in to your local Banking Office, or login to your Online Banking with Bill Pay account or your eZCard account to view your personal information.
What is the One-Time Passcode that is required for online and over the phone transactions on my Community Bank Credit Card?
The Community Bank will send you a new 6 digit numeric One-Time Passcode to your mobile phone number and/or email address maintained in our records. You will need to provide this One-Time Passcode to authenticate your transaction.
Can I use one One-Time Passcode for more than one transaction?
No, every 6 digit One-Time Passcode is valid only for that particular transaction and cannot be used for any other transaction.
For how long is the One-Time Passcode valid?
Each One-Time Passcode is valid for 30 minutes or one successful usage whichever is earlier.
What happens if I do not receive the One-Time Passcode?
One-Time Passcode would be instantly sent to the mobile phone number and/or email address maintained in our records, after you have started the transaction and entered your Community Bank Credit Card details.
